HAIL DAMAGE ON YOUR BUTT?

I had a client speak to me about her “Hail Damage.”  Tickled me to pieces, but doesn’t that just sum it up?  Cellulite . . . ugh!  Fat, thin, short, tall, male, female – doesn’t matter.  MOST of us have some.  But what, exactly, IS this cottage cheese lookin stuff that is the bane of our bathing suite and summer wear.

Cellulite

Cellulite refers to the appearance of dimpled skin on the thighs, hips, buttocks and abdomen of most women and some men, too. Cellulite is most common in areas of fat deposits and is the result of the unevenness of this fatty tissue beneath the skin surface. It is not a serious medical condition, but cellulite can be unsightly, and it may make you self-conscious when wearing shorts or a swimming suit

Cellulite looks like dimpled or bumpy skin. It's sometimes described as skin with a cottage cheese texture. Cellulite ranges in severity. Mild cases can be seen only when the skin is pinched — the dimpling appears in the pinched skin. More-severe cases make the skin appear rumpled and bumpy with areas of peaks and valleys. Cellulite is most common around the thighs and buttocks, but it can be found on the breasts, lower abdomen and upper arms as well.

Cellulite is caused by fibrous connective cords that tether the skin to the underlying muscle, with the fat lying between. As the fat cells accumulate, they push up against the skin, while the long, tough cords are pulling down. This creates an uneven surface or dimpling.

Good thing there are now available cures for cellulite and one of the most effective ones is the ultrasound cellulite treatment.

The use of ultrasound for treating cellulite is the newest procedure in reducing the appearance of the dimpled fats from the skin. According to experts, it is very effective in for the process.

How does it work?

The ultrasound is originally done for treating muscle pains, joint injuries, bursitis and tendonitis. However it has also been proven to have effects in the reduction of cellulite formation. The sound waves from the device is said to trigger the fat build ups underneath the skin. This is what melts the cellulite so that the elimination will be easier. The heat from the device will obviously burn the fats down making it circulate. The elimination will later occur as the fats are freed from being trapped inside the skin cells.

Ultrasound Cellulite Treatment

Is it safe?

According to experts, it is safe. The ultrasound will not harm the skin and will not bring out any side effects to the patient. Some say that it is even safer than laser treatments. With the ultrasound, the sound waves will only trigger the unwanted fat cells and the healthy skin cells are left undamaged.

How is it done?

Usually, this is done inside a clinic. The specialist will run the ultrasound device onto the affected areas in a round motion. By doing this, the cellulite will be removed evenly. The treatment is done within several sessions. Schedules for the treatments will be done during the first consultation.

Tips:

After the ultrasound cellulite treatment, the patient is required to rest for a few days. This is needed in order to rehydrate the body. Patients MAY feel sick right after the treatment.

After the treatment, there is no guarantee that the cellulites will not reappear. This can be prevented by having a regular exercise routine as well as taking a healthy diet. Cellulites form due to the excess intake of fatty foods without the needed elimination. Always have the habit of exercising and eating the right food groups. Drinking lots of water will also help regulate the circulation inside the body. All these are needed in order to have that attractive body without any signs of cellulite.

Treatments like ultrasound are always available, but it is still up to you to maintain having a healthy body.

This Ultrasonic Cellulite Treatments is available at m.d. Skin.  Summer will be here before you know it.  Set up a FREE consultation to see if this treatment could be right for you.

Benefits of Airbrush Tanning

some beachThis yucky winter weather has me thinking, “Some beach . . . somewhere . . . actually ANY where!”  Just the thought of  laying on a sandy beach, the sun beating down on my bikini clad body – baking, bronzing – oh joy!

Actually the thoughts of my bikini clad body is sending shivers down my already shivering bod!  But that’s for another blog.  Sun tanning with UVA (ageing) and UVB (burning) rays is just not smart!  I just have healed from the big chunk cut out of my arm directly related from sun damage.  We ALL know the damage and ageing those wonderful warm rays of sunshine do to our skin – gives new meaning to the term “Tanning your hide!”

Baking out in the sun or even in a tanning bed is no longer considered a healthy or safe way to get a tan. Whether from traditional tanning beds or booths, or the sun, doctors universally agree that UV rays may be harmful to your health. Ultraviolet light tanning beds have been linked to melanoma and non-melanoma skin cancers. Also, exposure to UV rays is the number one cause of premature aging. Airbrush tanning offers an alternative to sunbathing and tanning beds, and give you the bronzed look you crave.

Getting a sunless tan is easy. Using an airbrush and air compressor, this method uses DHA (dihydroxyacetone).  This solution is sprayed on and saturates the outermost layer of your skin, staining this layer of dead cells gradually. The result? A golden tan without any risk of skin cancer. This method offers beautiful and realistic results, excellent coverage, and typically lasts five to seven days and maybe even a little longer is a few simple instructions are followed

Airbrush tanning gives you the same results in fifteen minutes as five tanning bed sessions or as many hours in the sun. It also improves your skin's overall appearance by de-emphasizing  cellulite, stretch marks, scars, and varicose veins.   I always say, “Tanned fat looks better than white fat!”   airbrush tanning

To prepare for your best airbrush results, there are just a few tips to help.  First, shower, shave and exfoliate well.  Shower as close to your appointment as possible using a non-moisturizing soap.  Do NOT apply and moisturizer to your face or body.  Remember to schedule any hair/spa, mani/pedi appointments PRIOR to your tanning appointment.  Wear loose fitting clothing to your appointment to avoid rubbing.  Any solution that transfers to your clothing or bed sheets should wash out easily.

To extend your airbrush tan you must remain dry for 12 – 16 hours after receiving your airbrush tan.  That means do not bathe during this time period.  Also, it is best to avoid workouts – or any sweat inducing events - for about 12 hours after  receiving your airbrush tan. Next day, take short, warm showers using a UNSCENTED moisturizing body wash or soap and shave with a light touch.  PAT skin dry and moisturize well.  You may consider using a tan extender or enhancer product for even better results.  If you use perfume apply it to your clothes and hair  avoiding skin contact, as the alcohol in most fragrances can cause spots where applied to airbrushed skin.

Additional tips are to avoid hot tubs and pedicure tubs.  After any workout take off sweaty shoes and clothing immediately.  Throughout the day of your airbrush tan, avoid touching your skin, as you want the solution to dry flawlessly.  Your tan will continue to darken over the next 12-16 hours.  When you do shower the first time you may notice some of the top bronzing layer washing down the drain.  This IS NOT your tan.  Look at your beautiful, dark, golden glow.  Only the “cosmetic” layer washed away.

before and after tanAn airbrush tan is perfect for any and all occasions!   Got a class reunion?  A wedding?  Taking pictures?  Vacation or business trip?  Want to look like you’ve just returned from an exotic locale?  Or, like me, simply tired, tired, tired of this dreary weather and need a pick-me-up?  I have the solution for you!!!  Or, if you are tired of dealing with the inconsistency of sunless tanning lotions, airbrush sunless tanning gives you a great, healthy way to tan year round.

at m.d. Skin llc, I offer airbrush tanning at just $30 per session.  For an even better value, consider the 4 session package.  That is 4 weekly airbrush tanning sessions for $100.  I am incredibly excited about the new airbrush tanning vent/exhaust that will be in place next week for an even more comfortable experience.
